What is my first step to entering the program?

The first step in entering an Alabama Department of Mental Health substance abuse treatment provider is to complete an Alabama state drug and alcohol assessment.  An assessment can be completed in the Tuscaloosa County area by contacting the Phoenix House to schedule an assessment time or by going to Indian Rivers Mental Health Center at 8am for walk-in assessment. If not in the Tuscaloosa County area, the individual seeking assessment is recommended to contact their local mental health center to seek assessment referral.
